gram for analysis, the analysis you receive will be incorrect. Likewise, if you, as a person receive incorrect information (like the information the latest fad diet gives you), your actions will, likewise, be incorrect. And your incorrect actions will lead you to the inevitable result - failure at controlling your weight.
But, should you feel guilty about this failure? Of course not! You were only acting on the information you had available to you, just like the computer. The only person that should feel guilty is the "diet guru" who pumps out the "cure for obesity" or "miracle weight loss plan" in magazines and books for easy money to be made from a desperate public. They present themselves as "experts" on losing weight when they, clearly, are not. People reading these "expert" instructions (or watching them on television) set off with every good intention but, as they always do, end up failing. Unfortunately, these people blame themselves for their failure. They must have done something wrong. It simply doesn't make any sense, but it always happens, unfortunately.
We are going to educate you about healthier eating habits. But we are not going to tell you specifically what to eat and when to eat. We will give you some very general guidelines but, for the most part, leave the specifics up to your tastes. An over-restrictive eating plan (or a "diet") leads to frustration and a psychological feeling of sacrifice and deprivation. You can fight the emotion of deprivation for a limited period of time. When hunger finally wins, as it always does, you lose control and usually overeat or binge.
With our information, you will be able to make your own choices. In large part, all the choices are yours. If you want pizza, have pizza. If you want chocolate, have chocolate. If you want steak, by all means, eat steak. We allow you to eat anything - I'll say it again, you can eat anything - as long as you control the amount you eat. We give you the control and that is a very psychologically positive feeling. All we ask is that you control the portions of the food you chose. No one in the history of mankind ever gained permanent, significant body fat eating a Hershey bar or a slice or two of pizza. Never, ever.
